Application of centrifuge anti-corrosion technology

The consequences of centrifuge anti-corrosion failure are catastrophic, which will lead to loss of strength and explosion, leakage pollution and even personal injury. Therefore, detailed physical and chemical data of the medium should be provided/obtained when selecting the model, and appropriate materials should be selected.

When selecting the model, the appropriate material or surface coating should be selected according to the physical and chemical data of the corrosive medium to be separated, concentration, temperature and other factors (such as impurities, pH value, whether it contains air, flow or stillness) to meet the anti-corrosion requirements.

The anti-corrosion requirements of sealing components cannot be ignored, and the sealing material should ensure that it prevents corrosion from acids, alkalis and solvents.
For mixed acids or mixtures of acids, salts and solvents, materials that meet the anti-corrosion requirements can be selected by referring to the verified application practices.
In the absence of corresponding corrosion data, hanging plate tests and laboratory verification should be carried out to ensure that the material selection meets the anti-corrosion requirements.

During the hanging plate test, the metal or coating material is immersed in the mother liquor, and the temperature, concentration, pH value, etc. of the mother liquor should be consistent with the actual working conditions to ensure the simulation comparability of the test environment. However, the coupon test cannot reflect the stress corrosion and erosion corrosion in the actual working conditions of the centrifuge, so attention should be paid when selecting materials.

In addition to the appearance inspection, the test coupon also needs to be inspected for chemical composition and mechanical properties to help us determine whether the material selection is appropriate.
Meeting the anti-corrosion requirements (and meeting the explosion-proof requirements) is the primary condition for selecting a centrifuge!

Commonly used metal materials for centrifuges:
Austenitic stainless steel: 304, 321, 316L
Duplex stainless steel: 2205, 2507
Titanium: TA1, TA2
Surface anti-corrosion lining: HALAR, F40, F46, PFA
PE: rubber lining
