Centrifuges are mainly used in inorganic chemicals, organic chemicals, petroleum, pharmaceuticals and pharmaceutical intermediates, chemical fertilizers, pesticides, dyes, food and additives. Through the strong filtering pressure - centrifugal force, the solid-liquid mixture can be separated, and the separated product can be purified (washed) at the same time. Therefore, it has been widely used in many industries.
Factors for selecting the applicability of centrifuges:
· Type of separation: liquid, solid (medium corrosion characteristics, explosion-proof characteristics)
· Particle size (particle size distribution), shape and density
· Solid phase density, relative density of feed liquid
· Sedimentation velocity
· Flow rate
· Viscosity
· PH value
· Output
· Washing requirements
· GMP required temperature
Solid phase particle size, sedimentation velocity and mixture concentration are the main applicability measurement indicators. In addition to the above-mentioned physical and chemical properties, there are also factors such as washing requirements, liquid phase solid content index, filter cake moisture content index, etc. that need to be considered when selecting applications.
When choosing a separation process, the first thing is to choose the most suitable technology from filtration, sedimentation or sedimentation + filtration. In general, sedimentation methods are more economical than filtration methods, especially in those cases involving large processing volumes and continuous liquid flows, where sedimentation separation is more appropriate.
